Cremation has been with us since the dawn of time to properly allow a loved one to pass to eternal care.
The details of the process are best described on the Virginia Cremation Society website, but for us the process is a proper and respectful transition resulting in the ashes, called cremains, placed in a plastic bag inside a rigid container. Often these ashes are transferred to an urn selected by the family. It is not unusual to divide the ashes among several urns for family remembrance or inurnment in multiple locations.
